KEM Shrine Potato Bowl Parade
KEM SHRINE POTATO BOWL PARADE ROUTE CHANGES BACK TO UNIVERSITY AVENUE
For the second time in three years the KEM Shrine Potato Bowl Parade will move from downtown Grand Forks-East Grand Forks to a route along University Avenue east of the campus. On both occasions, the change was made because of construction work on a bridge. In 2015 the Sorlie Bridge downtown was undergoing renovation which restricted its width. This year Potato Bowl Parade organizers were not able to obtain a permit because construction on the Kennedy Bridge on Highway 2 (Gateway Drive) could divert heavy traffic flow to the Sorlie Bridge which is on the downtown parade route.
Here is a map of this year’s route, the parade will travel from right to left on the map:
This year’s parade is scheduled for 10:00 AM on September 9th. It will start on University Avenue one block west of North Washington (N 14th St) and end one block east of Columbia Road on the UND Campus (N 26th St).
The KEM Shrine has also announced a major new co-sponsor of the parade this year, Opp Construction of Grand Forks.
